The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber
of Commerce in partnership with Centralia College
and BAM Racing produce an action-packed, community
supported go-kart street racing event. The Hub City
Grand Prix is held on the fourth weekend of August
annually. The 2007 event will be held on August 24 –
26.
The Hub City Grand Prix (Title
sponsor with naming rights available) is raced
around Washington’s oldest, continually operated
community college – Centralia College. The college
campus is located one block for Centralia’s Historic
Downtown. The downtown has been recognized by
Seattle Times, Los Angeles Time, San Francisco
Herald, Fresno Times and many others as a great
place to stop enjoy history and contemporary
entertainment. The City of Centralia, or Hub City,
completed a multi-million dollar renovation in 2003
and the investment has paid off with continued
investment renovating meeting facilities,
restaurants and hotels.
The Hub City Grand Prix takes
advantage of the city’s hospitality of motor sports.
The weekend is a place where motor enthusiast can
get their fix. The downtown opens to over 400
classic cars for the Hub City Car Show, a local park
welcomes HOG riders from across the northwest. Work
is underway to develop a Porsche Rally and a 4X4
Rally.
The Hub City Grand Prix is
raced around a beautiful campus. Over 2/3 of the
track is within the college campus. The balance is
made up of local residents eager to join in the fun
with family reunions and block parties.
The street track is exactly .8
of a mile with two left-hand turns and four
right-hand turns. The eight corners, three
straightaway sections and a well position vendor
alley provide excellent opportunities for sponsors
to strut their stuff.
The event’s growth has caught
the attention of national and regional (northwest)
broadcast media attention. The Outdoor Channel on
their popular Motor Mania show will cover the event,
as will KING 5, KONG 6/16 and NW Cable News.
